SCSU Women's Basketball Gains 72-60 Win over Upper Iowa

Fayette, IA – The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team traveled to Fayette, Iowa this afternoon. The Huskies matched up against Upper Iowa defeating the Peacocks, 72-60.
St. Cloud State improves to 13-9 overall and 12-6 in the NSIC. Upper Iowa falls to 5-19 overall and 4-14 in the conference.
Overall, St. Cloud State shot 46.6% from the field and 40.9% from behind the arc. Upper Iowa finished shooting 34.4% from the field, 15% from the three-point range, and 78.9% from the line. The Peacocks outrebounded the Huskies, 39-35. St. Cloud State forced eight turnovers, while committing nine as a team. The largest lead for St. Cloud State came in the fourth quarter at the 7:30 mark by 16 points.
Three St. Cloud State players scored in the double digits this evening.
Senior forward Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) led the Huskies with 23 points. LeCaptain made 9 of 13 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds.
Junior guard Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.)
Junior guard Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) shot 69.2% (9-13) from the field, finishing with 20 points. Nooker recorded five assists, two steals, and ten reobunds.
Whitney Kieffer led the Peacocks with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
St. Cloud State will return to action next weekend as they host Northern State and Minnesota State University, Moorhead. The Wolves of Northern State are currently 17-6 overall and 13-5 in the conference. MSU Moorhead stands at 16-4 overall and 13-4 in the NSIC.
