Football On the Road Against Upper Iowa This Weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (0-1) travels for the first time this season with a trip to Upper Iowa (0-1) in Fayette, Iowa at Harms-Eischeid Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 1:07 p.m.

- The Peacocks started the 2016 season with a 38-24 loss to Bemidji State on the road on Sept. 1.
 - UIU trailed by 20 points at halftime, but fought back in the second half to cut the deficit to six points before falling in the end by two scores.
 - Following a week of play, Upper Iowa ranks second nationally with 32 first downs and 10th in the country with an average of 392 passing yards per game.
 - Dimitri Morales threw for those 392 yards and a touchdown while completing 42 passes.
 - Morales' 42 completed pass are the most in the country.
 - He also ran for 34 yards and two more scores against the Beavers.
 - Jarrod Edmonds hauled in 13 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.
 - Edmonds' 13 catches are tops in the nation.
 - Jalen Amis opened his season with 88 yards on six catches.
 - Ryan Parmely ran for 94 yards on 20 carries and also caught six passes out of the backfield for 29 yards.
 - On defense, Tate Thompson and Zach Gardner each registered nine tackles against Bemidji State.
 - In the preseason poll, Upper Iowa is predicted to place sixth in the NSIC South and 11th overall
 
- SCSU is 3-2 all-time against Upper Iowa in the previous five meetings
 - The Huskies have outscored the Peacocks in those five contests 183-121
 - The last time these two teams met was during the 2014 season with Upper Iowa nipping SCSU 37-31 on a touchdown with just five seconds remaining in the game.
 - The Huskies were able to defeat the Peacocks by a 54-28 margin during the 2012 season when the teams last played in the state of Iowa.
 - The series dates back 1949 with Upper Iowa winning the first contest 23-20

 - Cox, a familiar voice to the program, makes a return to the booth as the Huskies' play-by-play broadcaster and SCSU alum Overlund is in his first year as the color analyst. Fans can hear all 11 games this season on AM 1240 WJON – the new broadcast home for Huskies football this season.  The SCSU football pre-game show will begin 30 minutes prior to kick-off for all games this season.

- The Scott Underwood Show is held at 7 p.m. weekly regularly on Mondays during the football season at the Green Mill Restaurant in downtown St. Cloud.  Fans are invited to come out and listen to the show live at the Green Mill and enjoy some great menu discounts available during the show on Monday.  The show is hosted by the voice of the Huskies, J.W. Cox and airs on AM 1390 The Fan from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. The show will be held on Tuesdays on Sept. 13 and Oct. 3.

- This is the 94th season of SCSU Football.
 - The program is 12-23 in the first road game of the season since 1980.
 - After the season opening 49-13 loss to Sioux Falls on Sept. 1, SCSU is 9-6 in its last 15 games.
 - Senior Jameson Parsons set a career-high with 181 yards receiving on his eight catches against the Cougars.
 - The receiving total for Parsons was the ninth-highest single game total in school history and the fourth highest recorded in any home game.
 - Parsons' 181 yards was tops in the NSIC and places him seven nationally in receiving yards
 - His 181 receiving yards was the fourth time in the last five games that he has topped 120 receiving yards in a game and the eighth time he has gone over 100 yards in receiving yards in a game the last two seasons.
 - Junior Jaden Huff ran for 64 yards and touchdown against Sioux Falls.
 - Huff's rushing touchdown was his 14th over the last two seasons and the 17th rushing touchdown for the Bolingbrook, Ill. native in the last 13 games.
 - Senior quarterback Nate Meyer threw for 254 yards on 15 completions.
 - His average of 16.93 yards per completion ranks him third in the conference and 18th in the nation in that category.
 - Meyer also passed 5,000 career passing yards (5,156) to move to fourth in the career record books.
 - John Pass caught the fourth touchdown of his career in the game.
 - Jeremy Koffi was heavily involved in the turnover game as he recorded both an interception and a fumble recovery in the contest.
 - Trevor Naslund punted eight times for 318 yards (an average of 39.8) with a career-long of 52 plus two kicks that were downed inside the 20.
 - Naslund's punting average places him fifth in the NSIC
 - Sophomore Jamari Manuel, junior Carvel Graham and senior Adam Josephson tied for the team lead with seven tackles each.
 - Senior Mitch Knutson totaled four tackles, a stop for loss plus forced a fumble against USF.
 - The Huskies were able to control time of possession (TOP) in the game at 37:13.
 - The program currently ranks second in the NSIC and 19th nationally in TOP
 - The Huskies had five players make their first career start against Sioux Falls: John Solberg – WR, Frank Garcia – LG, Karl Rude – C, Peter Palecek – RG and Sam Hartman – TE.
 
- The Huskies next return home to Husky Stadium to host No. 4/6 Minnesota State (1-0) on Sept. 17 beginning at 3 p.m.
 - This will be the 80th meeting between the schools with SCSU holding a 42-33-3 edge.
 - The Mavericks are the most frequent football opponent in school history since the series started in 1923.
 - The game will also be the Celebrate! game and Alumni Weekend.
