Congratulations to former St. Cloud State University men's hockey player Matt Cullen, who helped the Pittsburgh Penguins win their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship on June 11 with a 2-0 win at Nashville, Tenn.
The Penguins won the title with a 4-2 series edge. This marks the third time that Cullen has been part of a Stanley Cup championship squad. He was also on NHL championship teams in 2016 (Pittsburgh) and in 2006 (Carolina).
Cullen played two seasons of hockey at SCSU from 1995 to 1997. He has played in over 1,360 NHL games during his professional career including stops with Anaheim, Florida, Carolina, New York Rangers, Ottawa, Minnesota, Nashville and Pittsburgh. In two years at SCSU, Cullen scored 27 goals and 59 assists.
