ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team (5-1) hosts the 2018 Kelly Laas Memorial Invite this weekend at the Husky Dome from Feb. 22-25. The Huskies play a total of four games during the four days of the tournament starting on Friday morning, Feb. 23, with a 7 a.m. game against Missouri Western State (3-7). The program plays a second game later that morning at 9 a.m. against Nebraska Kearney (2-6). The team has an afternoon game against Southwest Baptist (1-7) on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1:30 p.m. and wraps up the tournament with a single contest against Fort Hays State on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. There will be a total of 19 softball games played at the tournament with teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) participating. Â
Admission to watch this weekend's softball tournament at the Husky Dome is $10 daily. All children aged five and under are FREE. All SCSU students with a valid student ID are also FREE.

The Kelly Laas Memorial Invite carries a Coaches vs. Cancer theme in honor of former Husky player Kelly Laas who passed away in March of 2011 following a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Laas, of Frankfort, Ill., began her softball career at St. Cloud State in 2008 and was an elementary education major. In her memory, St. Cloud State named the annual dome invite the Kelly Laas Memorial Invite beginning in the spring of 2012.

- Jacobs had the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to give SCSU the victory in the second game against the Beavers.
- Sophomore Maya Keating was able to reach base safely five times with four hits and a walk.
- Junior Morgan Emmans totaled a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
- Sophomore Cassie Francesconi had the first two hits of her career plus knocked in three runs.
