ST. CLOUD—Fresh off a decorated junior season, St. Cloud State men's hockey defenseman Will Borgen has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, the team announced on Sunday. The entry-level contract will begin starting with the 2018-19 season.
Borgen will forfeit his senior season with the Huskies and report to Buffalo's playoff-bound AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, on an amateur tryout agreement. The Moorhead, Minn., native was a fourth round selection, 92nd overall, by the Sabres at the 2015 NHL Draft.
