
SCSU Falls 3-0 Against No. 2 Minnesota

The Minnesota Golden Gophers came out strong with a goal by Alex Woken just forty four seconds into the game. The Gophers came back with another goal at 13:30 in the first period giving them a two goal lead. The Huskies struggled to find the back of the net, but outshot the Gophers 9-8 in the first period for a total of six saves by SCSU's Emma Polusny.
The first half of the second period was scoreless until Olivia Knowles tallied a third goal for the Gophers at 11:48. The Huskies gained momentum after killing off a penalty and having an opportunity on the powerplay, but still struggled to tally a point. Emma Polusny made eight saves for the Huskies in the second period.
The third period was a hard fought, scoreless battle between the Huskies and Gophers. The Huskies put 8 shots on goal for a total of 21 shots on Minnesota's Sydney Scobee. The Gophers had 12 shots for a game total of 28, giving Polusny 25 saves.
The Huskies face off against the Gophers again tomorrow, October 20th at 2:07 pm at Ridder Arena for a second conference match.
