ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The St. Cloud State University softball team officially has a schedule for the 2021 spring season. With 17 days remaining until first pitch, the Huskies officially released their schedule Tuesday afternoon.Â
Due to COVID-19 protocols, this softball season will look slightly different than past scheduled, though St. Cloud State's is jammed packed with the top opponents in the Central Region and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). As per usual, the Huskies will open the season by hosting five opponents for the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament in the Husky Dome and will additionally travel to one other tournament, the Missouri Western Hy-Vee Classic, in St. Joseph, Missouri. St. Cloud State will not travel to Arizona or Florida for spring break. Instead, the Huskies will host Southwest Minnesota State and Minot State in two nonconference doubleheaders in mid-March.Â
In addition to a tough nonconference schedule, St. Cloud State will play 15 NSIC doubleheaders between the months of March and May. If the weather cooperates, eight of the 15 doubleheaders will take place outside at Selke Field while the other seven will count as road games for the Huskies.Â
St. Cloud State will officially open the season on Friday, February 12 when it hosts Northwestern (Iowa) at 1 p.m. in St. Cloud, Minnesota. More information regarding fan attendance and tickets will be available in upcoming weeks.
