ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Soccer dropped the final contest of their inaugural season by a 2-1 decision on Thursday afternoon at Upper Iowa. The Huskies' lone goal came courtesy of Riley Wood finishing a Nolan Pratumwon centering feed with the left foot in the 80th minute, trimming the deficit to one. The Peacocks outshot SCSU 6-2, with keeper Matthew Janke making four saves. SCSU closes their first season in program history with a 4-13-1 record, 3-11-0 in GLIAC play.
TURNING POINT

QUOTABLES
St. Cloud State Men's Soccer Head Coach Sean Holmes
"I was really pleased with our performance today. A great improvement over our first result over Upper Iowa. (5-2 L) Obviously the guys wanted to finish the season on a high note since we're not playing again in the playoffs. We held our own in the first 70 minutes and then ran out of gas for a few minutes before we composed ourselves. What I was most proud of was that we started eight players who were essentially in their first year of college soccer and we started and played a lot of Minnesotans, which were two of our goals. We knew our youth would make the season challenging, but I though the experience that the guys gained was invaluable. I think we have learned that the GLIAC, which I hope will send multiple teams to the NCAA DII Tournament, is competitive from top to bottom in that the margin of error is small. A solid performance from Matthew Janke in goal today, a very composed performance from our center backs Vukota Mastilovic and Jakob Mohrlok. As always, Cullen McSweeney was industrious in the midfield. I thought Philip Caputo and Nolan Pratumwon showed glimmers of their creativity and attacking skills. I thought Andres Garcia again put in lots of intelligent work up front. I look forward to regrouping, having guys focus on their schoolwork for the next few weeks before exams and then getting ready for 2022."
