Huskies Indoor Track & Field enjoys strong start to 2021-22 season at Chuck Petersen Open

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field opened their 2021-22 Indoor season with a strong showing at the Chuck Petersen Open held at Minnesota State on Saturday. Two Huskies – sophomore Julia Rowles in the Triple Jump and senior Faith Lubner in the Long Jump – posted personal bests while SCSU racked up seven top-five individual finishes.

Field Events
The Huskies' outstanding High Jump group kicked off the High Jump with four top-ten finishes, led by Hannah Arason placing second by clearing 1.66m. Julia Rowles PR'd with one clearance of 1.63m to land fourth, while Brooklyn Brouse (1.53m) and Makaylin Christenson (1.48m) seventh and ninth respectively. Faith Lubner covered a personal best 5.82m in the Long Jump to take second followed by Arason and Parker Buske going six-seven with marks of 5.38m. Buske and Maya Taylor showed extremely well per usual in the Triple Jump, with Buske leaping 11.61m and Taylor posting an 11.53m mark to land three-four. Dacoda Zimmerman placed fifth in the Shot Put with an 11.99m toss and landed seventh in the Weight Throw at 14.38m.
Track Events
Hannah Arason (9.15s) and Shelby Romig (9.32s) opened things up well in the 60 Meter Hurdle preliminaries, landing fifth and eighth respectively. Romig went on to finish third in the Finals with a 9.14s time. Cassidy Lackovic gave the Huskies a top-ten finish by landing ninth in the 400 Meter with a 1:02.12 run, then added a top-12 result in the 200 Meter (26.56s).
