
Women's basketball to play single game at Minot State

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The #18 St. Cloud State University women's basketball team almost made it through the entire 2021-22 season unscathed by cancellations. Due to a non-COVID related illness in the UMary program, the Huskies saw their Saturday game against the Marauders canceled, marking the first cancellation all season for the St. Cloud State women. The Huskies still have a chance to see some Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action this weekend, however, as they will still travel to Minot State for Friday's conference contest.Â
Tip off between St. Cloud State and Minot State is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 11. It will be the lone game the Huskies play on their western road trip due to Saturday's cancellation, which will not be made up in accordance with NSIC guidelines.Â

Here are the five things to know before this weekend's series:
.143 - St. Cloud State's defense has hit its stride as of late, as the Huskies were absolutely dominant in wins over Northern State and MSU-Moorhead. St. Cloud State held its guests to 47.0 points per game on .318 shooting from the floor, including a season-low .143 clip from three-point range. In fact, the Huskies defense allowed, on average, 2.0 threes per game, including zero in a 67-45 win over the Wolves.Â
208 - There's a new three-point queen in the St. Cloud State record books. Thank to her two threes against the Dragons, Tori Wortz (Hutchinson, Minn. / Hutchinson) became the program record holder in career threes, surpassing former standout Betsy MacDonald with 208 in her career. Wortz additionally moved to eighth all-time in scoring with 1591 career.Â
221 - Lori Fish has made a lot of headlines in her 13 years as the head coach of the Huskies. Over the weekend, she very quietly moved into soul possession of second in career wins, claiming her 220th and 221st victories as St. Cloud State's head coach. In her 13 seasons at the helm, Fish has compiled an overall record of 221-151 for a career winning percentage of .611, officially making her the winningest coach in program history.Â
37 - The Huskies faced Minot State at home earlier this season, using big scoring performances from Nikki Kilboten (Eau Claire, Wis. / Eau Claire North), Wortz and Brehna Evans (De Pere, Wis. / West De Pere) to cruise to a 71-50 victory. The trio scored a combined 37 points for the Huskies, led by Kilboten's 14 in the win. Evans additionally had, what was then, a career day, scoring 12 points and pulling a (again, then) career-high eight rebounds to go along with six assists. Wortz added 11 points, five assists and four rebounds in the "W" as well.Â
6-9 - Since the loss to St. Cloud State, the Beavers have experienced some historic wins, defeating some of the top teams in the South Division, including Wayne State, MSU-Mankato and Concordia-St. Paul. In fact, Minot State scored 81 points against both the Mavericks and Golden Bears, pulling off two of the biggest upsets the NSIC has seen this season. However, since those two wins, the Beavers have lost four straight to Winona State, Upper Iowa, Bemidji State and Minnesota-Crookston.
