
Men's basketball hangs with Minot State in 89-81 loss

Junior duo of Roberts and Donaldson score 42 combined points
ST. CLOUD, MINN. – The St. Cloud State University men's basketball team dropped another close contest Friday evening, this time falling to Minot State 89-81 in Minot, North Dakota. Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) and Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) both score 20+ points for the Huskies, who are now 9-15 overall and 5-11 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play.
GAME SUMMARY
St. Cloud State was bolstered by the return of Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) to the starting line up, as the junior guard scored 15 points in the first half alone in his return to competition. Despite Roberts' efforts, though, the Huskies trailed the Beavers 48-46 entering the locker room at half. In addition to Roberts, Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) contributed a bulk of St. Cloud State's first half points, tallying eight to go along with five rebounds.
The Huskies managed to keep things close throughout the second, cutting the Minot State lead to two points multiple times in the closing 20 minutes. St. Cloud State was never able to catch its host, though, as the Huskies fell in Minot, North Dakota by a final score of 89-81
TOP HUSKIES
- Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) scored 22 points in his return to the starting line up and pulled in nine rebounds in the loss.
- Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) added 20 points, five rebounds and two assists in the loss, while Joe Mutimer (Melbourne, Australia / Blackburn South) scored 12 points for the third straight game.
- Ryan Bagley (Pocatello, Idaho / Burley) closed the game with 10 points and nine rebounds.

St. Cloud State will travel to Bismarck, North Dakota for a 5:30 p.m. game against UMary on Saturday, February 12.
