St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Suffers Tough Loss to No. 5 Minnesota State

Huskies fall 86-61 to No. 5 Mavericks
MANKATO, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team suffered a tough loss to No. 5 Minnesota State Friday evening at the Taylor Center in Mankato, MN falling 86-61 to MSU. The Mavericks showed the Huskies why they have the top scoring offense in the NSIC putting up 86 points against the Huskies NSIC number two ranked defense. This is only the second game this season St. Cloud has surrendered more than 65 points to an opponent. 11 different Huskies added points to the board with three scoring in the double-digits and one double-double.

GAME SUMMARY
The Huskies entered the locker room down 43-28 after the first two periods of play. Minnesota State came out strong to open up the first period leading 10-1 over the Huskies with 4:45 left in the opening period. St. Cloud added ten more to the board to end the period down 19-11. During the second period, Minnesota State outscored the Huskies 24-17. Dru Henning led the first half with eight points, Ashley Sawicki added seven points, and Makenna Vanzant added six.

During the third period, the Huskies were down by 17 three minutes in until St. Cloud went on a 10-0 scoring run to bring the game within seven points after a layup in the paint by Ashley Sawicki. Following that play, Minnesota State went on the offensive to end the third up 66-46. During the fourth quarter, the Huskies were unable to recover from the point deficit going down by as much as 26 and suffered an 86-61 loss to the No. 5 Mavericks.
