Huskies freshman earns honor after undefeated weekend
Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced that St. Cloud State freshman Oriana Grott (Warsaw, Poland) earned NSIC Player of the Week after going undefeated this past weekend.
Grott grabbed her first singles win in a Huskies uniform on Saturday, March 5th with a 6-4, 6-1 victory in the No. 1 spot against Tessa Holman of Calvin College. Grott followed up her performance on Saturday with another victory in the No. 1 spot as she posted a 6-2, 2-6, 10-9 victory over Leandra Guldimann of California University of Pennsylvania.
In doubles, Grott teamed up with sophomore Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) to secure two doubles wins in the No. 2 spot. The duo won 8-4 on Saturday against Calvin College and then earned a 6-4 victory on Sunday against California University of Pennsylvania.
The Huskies went 2-0 on the weekend in the midst of their four match slate in Florida and will be back in action on Wednesday, March 8th against John Carroll.
