St. Cloud State Tennis Swept by No. 27 Augustana, Fall 7-0

Broadwell’s 10-match doubles winning streak snapped
Sioux Falls, S.D.- St. Cloud State Tennis (4-10, 1-7 NSIC) were defeated 7-0 against No. 27 Augustana Saturday afternoon. The Vikings took the doubles point after three wins and then took all six singles matches with five of the six victories in straight sets.
Doubles
Augustana came away with the doubles point after earning victories in all three matches. In the No. 1 spot, Johana Brower and Maria Paz Aoki would be defeated 6-1 against Fernanda Sandoval and Nicole Dufour. The Vikings then clinched the point as Mia Garcia and Smilte Baktye defeated Brooklyn Broadwell and Gibby Chapman 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. That loss would snap Broadwell's 10 match doubles winning streak which was the second longest streak since 2007-2008. Augustana came up with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot to complete the sweep of the doubles point.
Singles
Moving into singles play with a 1-0 deficit, the Huskies would fall in all six matches with five of the six matches coming in straight sets. After dropping the first set 6-1, Lara-Maria Schaefer came away with a 7-5 victory in set two to send her match to the third set. Schaefer would battle against Gabriela Jancikova but would be defeated 10-5 in the final set. The Vikings would ultimately go on to win 7-0.
