St. Cloud State Beats Concordia College 5-2 in Florida Finale

Four Huskies capture two wins
Orlando, Fla.- St. Cloud State Tennis (3-5, 0-2 NSIC) snapped their two-match losing streak in their Florida finale as they beat Concordia College 5-2 Thursday morning. The Huskies won the doubles point and then came away with four singles wins, all of which came in straight sets.

Doubles
For the fourth consecutive match, St. Cloud State won the doubles point after a pair of wins. At the No. 1 spot, the Cobbers took the point with a 7-5 win, but Lara-Maria Schaefer and Gibby Chapman responded with a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot. In need of a win in the No. 3 spot to take the point, Brooklyn Broadwell and Oriana Grott came out victorious with a clean 6-0 win to secure the point for SCSU.

Moving into singles play with a 1-0 lead, Concordia took the first two matches as they now held a 2-1 lead. Broadwell got the Huskies back on track with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot. At the No. 4 spot, Schaefer added on another straight set wins as SCSU retook the lead at 3-2. To clinch the match, Chapman came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 5 spot for her fifth straight win. Grott put the finishing touches on the match for St. Cloud State as a straight set win finalized the score at 5-2.
