Jerry Anderson
The match between St. Cloud State and College of St. Benedict will be the fifth annual Jerry Anderson Legacy Match. Anderson put together a record of 198-136 in his 14 seasons with the program and is second all-time in total wins in program history. Anderson also captured two NSIC titles as they came in back-to-back years in 2009 and 2010. In the 2009 season, Anderson set the program record for single-season victories with 26 and was awarded NSIC Coach of the Year for his efforts. St. Cloud State hosted the opening round of the NCAA Tournament that same season. The 2010 season was also historic for Anderson and the Huskies. The team finished with a 23-7 record in route to winning their second consecutive conference championship as well as earning a second straight bid to the NCAA Tournament. St. Cloud State captured a 5-0 win over Colorado Mesa State in the NCAA Tournament before falling 3-5 to Slippery Rock in the Sweet 16. A 1984 graduate of St. Cloud State University, Anderson was a member of the St. Cloud State University tennis team from 1982-1984. He served as a team captain during his senior campaign in 1984. At Willmar Community College, Anderson earned All-Region 13 honors and a trip to the NCAA national championships in 1981. A graduate of Dassel-Cokato High School, Anderson was honored with induction to the Dassel-Cokato Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010. In addition to his duties as tennis coach at St. Cloud State, Anderson worked on campus since 1985 and most recently served as a director in the University's Academic Advising Department. Anderson's impact extends far past the boundaries of the tennis court as his passion for St. Cloud State and the community was greatly felt by players, faculty, and colleagues.
