Two relays, one individual record season-best marks in the Huskies final meet of the year
MANKATO, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field's final day of competition at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Outdoor Championships was highlighted by three season best performances. The Huskies finished the championships, hosted at the Mark Shuck Outdoor Track & Field Complex on the campus of Minnesota State University in Mankato, thirteenth in the team standings with 8.0 points in the final meet of head coach Gabrielle Brown's inaugural season at the helm of the program.
Senior jumper Elena Martinez-Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain) leaped to a new season best mark in the triple jump (10.97m / 36-0), taking down her old mark by 0.36m (1-2.25).
The quartet of senior sprinter Katie Lavato (Buffalo, Minn.), junior jumper/middle distance runner Makaylin Christenson (Prairie Farms, Wis.), freshman middle distance runner Audrey Rabitz (Manitowoc, Wis.) and freshman sprinter Jenna Marxhausen (Two Harbors, Minn.) ran 3:59.78 in the 4x400 relay, shaving over five seconds off the previous season best mark of 4:05.22. It is the first time since the 2022 outdoor season that a Huskies 4x400 team has dipped under four minutes.
The foursome of Marxhausen, Lavato, freshman sprinter Viola Okey-Ezealah (Port-Harcourt, Nigeria) and freshman sprinter/jumper Myesha Thompson (Mount Horeb, Wis.) finished the 4x100 relay in 48.80, knocking a full second off the best time run by the Huskies earlier this season. Their time is the fastest a Huskies 4x1 had run since the 2021 outdoor season.
