The Huskies kicked off their five-game homestand this past week with two games against Upper Iowa and Jamestown.
Friday's game against Upper Iowa was an all-time performance for St. Cloud State. Owen Worsdell spotted an early goal in the 7th minute with assists by Philip Caputo and Andrew Holmes to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. 10 minutes later, Upper Iowa tied the game at 1-1 off of a goal by Julian Mesen. The potent Huskies offense began to find its form as less than two minutes later, Caputo broke the tie to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead and then not even a minute later, Worsdell cashed in his second goal of the game to set the score at 3-1. That momentum continued into the second half as the trio of Caputo, Mika Folstad and Yanis Smeg took over the game for the Huskies. Smeg scored his first career goal three minutes into the second half following assists from Worsdell and Caputo, setting the score at 4-1. Upper Iowa responded with their own goal three minutes later, but the Huskies would score three goals in a seven-minute span to give them a 7-2 lead. Folstad knocked in his second career goal in the 54th minute off assists by Caputo and Smeg. Folstad then returned the favor to Caputo as he found the back of the net following assists by Folstad and Smeg. Caputo continued his offensive dominance as he notched his third goal of the game off an assist from Folstad to give the Huskies a 7-2 lead.
It ended up being an all-time performance for Philip Caputo as he set the single game program record for points with nine, tied the single game record for goals with three, and set the single game record for assists with three. Caputo would go on to win GLIAC Player of the Week following this performance. Owen Worsdell also put together quite the performance as he tallied five points on two goals and an assist. The five points were the third most in a single game in program history. The Huskies as a team set multiple single game records including largest margin of victory (5), most goals in a single game (7), most assists in a single game (11), and most points in a single game (25).
Tuesday's game against Jamestown started off slow for both teams as neither were able to find the back of the net in the first half. Nine minutes into the second half, Rhys Ward snuck a shot past the left foot of the Jamestown keeper off a feed from Austin Plumhoff to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. That goal sparked the Huskies offense as Philip Caputo scored his fifth goal of the season a minute later off an assist from Eduardo Balduino to set the score at 2-0. The offense kept humming for the Huskies as 10 minutes later, Mika Folstad found Abdi Isse deep in the box who struck the ball with his left foot past the keeper to give St. Cloud State a 3-0 lead. Jamestown would score a goal in the 69th minute, but St. Cloud State would ultimately go on to win 3-1 for their second consecutive victory.
