Huskies lose second straight match
Marquette, MI. – St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (4-10-1, 2-8-0 GLIAC) were shutout Sunday afternoon as they fell to Northern Michigan 3-0. The Huskies totaled six shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Northern Michigan struck first in the game as Ian Weimer scored a goal from the bottom corner of their box in the 13th minute. St. Cloud State came away with three shots on goal in the half to try to keep pace, but were unable to equalize the game. The Wildcats nearly ended the half with another goal in the 37th minute, but it would be called back on offsides. SCSU would go into the break trailing 1-0.
Coming out of the break, a costly turnover for the Huskies in their defending zone led to a penalty kick for NMU. Luca Rosen capitalized on the opportunity and extended the lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute. The Huskies had chances in their attacking zone, but nothing came to fruition. A red card by St. Cloud State forced the Huskies to play 11 on 10 for the final 15 minutes and that ultimately led to another Wildcat goal. The Huskies would be defeated 3-0 in Marquette, Michigan.
