
Huskies Drop Fourth Straight Match in 2-1 Loss to Purdue Northwest

García scores fifth goal of season
Hammond, In. – St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (3-6-1, 1-4-0 GLIAC) dropped their fourth consecutive match as they were defeated 2-1 against Purdue Northwest Friday afternoon. Andrés García scored his fifth goal of the season in the 88th minute.
The Pride got off to a fast start in the game as Landon Potts gave PNW a 1-0 lead at the 3:55 mark of the first half. St. Cloud State found their footing defensively after the early goal as they held the Pride to only two more shots on goal, both saved by keeper Ramy Atia. SCSU struggled to offensively as they mustered only one shot attempt in the first half, which would come on goal. The Huskies would get out shot 11-1 in the first half as they went into the break down 1-0.
Coming out of halftime, the Pride again struck early as Roman Lynch gave them a 2-0 advantage in the 58th minute. St. Cloud State started to pick up the pace and urgency as the offense found footing. The Huskies notched nine shots in the second half with three corner kicks as they created scoring chances. Their lone goal would come in the 88th minute as Owen Worsdell drew a foul in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Andrés García stepped up and fired a shot left and low that found the back of the net to put the Huskies on the board. In the final two minutes, SCSU pushed the Pride back into their defending zone and nearly came away with a turnover to secure possession. Purdue Northwest held on to defeat the Huskies 2-1.

- Andrés García scored his fifth goal of the season and second penalty kick of the year. García played 52 minutes and is up to 13 career goals.
- Yannick Langerhuizen played all 90 minutes in the field at center back. Langerhuizen extended his streak of consecutive games playing 90+ minutes to 12 games, the second longest in program history. He is up to 20 career games playing 90+ minutes which is tied for fourth all-time.
- Owen Worsdell tallied 74 minutes and three shots with one landing on goal while also drawing the penalty in the box.
