St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey to Host Red/Black Scrimmage on Sept. 26

Fans will be able to watch the open scrimmage for free at the Brooks Center
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey will host its annual Red/Black Scrimmage at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Friday, Sept. 26 at 6:00 p.m. CT. This will be the public's first chance to the see this season's Huskies ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season.
The scrimmage will be free to the public with doors scheduled to open at 5:00 p.m. Pre-game pizza will be available at 5:30 p.m. for free in the Husky Den until it runs out. The ticket office will be open for the duration of the scrimmage. Fans are encouraged to use this time address any ticket needs they have for the upcoming season.
SCSU returns its top-eight scorers and 82.7 percent of its overall scoring from a season ago as the Huskies look to return to the NCAA Tournament. Included in the group of returners is rising sophomore Austin Burnevik (Ham Lake, Minn.), who earned All-NCHC Rookie Team honors and became the first freshman in program history to lead the Huskies in both goals and points in 2024-25. Joining Burnevik is the junior trio of Tyson Gross (Calgary, Alberta), Barrett Hall (Apple Valley, Minn.) and Verner Miettinen (Espoo, Finland), who each scored 20+ points last season.
The Huskies will feature a five-man leadership group in 2025-26 with senior forward Grant Ahcan (Savage, Minn.), senior defenseman Cooper Wylie (Stillwater, Minn.) and Gross serving as captains. Senior defenseman Mason Reiners (Edina, Minn.) and Hall will wear the "A" as alternate captains.
