Gross and Berzins Earn NCHC Weekly Honors

Gross scored two goals in each game of sweep over ASU while Berzins recorded both wins in net
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey junior forward Tyson Gross (Calgary, Alberta) and sophomore goaltender Patriks Berzins (Talsi, Latvia) both earned National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) weekly honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Gross was named the forward of the week after a four-goal and five-point weekend while Berzins backstopped the Huskies to a road series sweep over Arizona State.
The weekly honor is the third career honor for Gross, who was named the NCHC Rookie of the Week on March 11, 2024, and the NCHC Forward of the Week on Dec. 9, 2024. He was also named the NCHC Rookie of the Month in March 2024. It is the first career weekly honor for Berzins, as well as the sixth and seventh weekly honors for the Huskies this season.
NCHC Weekly Honors in 2025-26:
On the season, Gross has scored 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points with seven power play goals and two shorthanded goals. His 37 points are the most a Husky has scored since Jami Krannila scored 40 points in 2022-23.
In conference games, Gross leads all NCHC skaters in goals (16), points (24) and faceoff wins (277).
Berzins backstopped the Huskies to the sweep in Tempe, posting a 2-0-0 record with 30+ saves in each win, a 2.00 goals-against-average and a .948 save percentage. The Husky goaltender made 33 saves in a 4-1 win on Friday while stopping both power plays before making a career-high 40 saves in a 4-3 win on Saturday, including 19 in the final frame alone. He made nine short-handed saves in the series to help SCSU go 5-for-6 on the penalty kill against ASU's top-10 ranked power play.
On the season, Berzins improved to 9-6-0 with a 2.68 GAA and .916 S%. His save percentage ranks second among NCHC netminders.
