St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Makes Playoff Push in Final Week of Regular Season

Huskies take on Concordia-St. Paul and Winona State
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (13-12, 10-10 NSIC) close out the regular season this weekend as they host Concordia-St. Paul on Wednesday, February 18 and then travel to Winona State on Saturday, February 21. Wednesday's game is set for 5:30 p.m. while Saturday's game will tip-off at 1:00 p.m.

Huskies Dominate the Glass in 64-52 Win Over Wayne State- February 12, 2026
Both teams started slow offensively as a layup by Abigail O'Reilly tied the game at six halfway through the first quarter. SCSU started to find their offensive footing as they consistently got into the paint and then finished inside. A layup by O'Reilly off an offensive rebound capped off an 11-0 run as the Huskies led 15-6 at the 2:19 mark of the first quarter. Wayne State would close the quarter on a 6-0 run to set the score at 15-12 after one. The start of the second quarter saw the Huskies stay hot as a 9-2 run opened up a double-digit lead. The Huskies continuously pushed the lead with ball movement and strong defense as they grew a lead as big as 18. The Huskies ultimately went into halftime leading 39-23.
Coming out of halftime, the Wildcats came out rejuvenated as they applied defensive pressure with a man press. SCSU would be forced into turnovers as WSC clawed back into the game. St. Cloud State would make timely shots to weather the storm as they went into the fourth leading 46-37. The Wildcats continued to roll to start the final frame as they cut the lead down to five. Jada Eggebrecht calmed the Rice Auditorium with a mid-range jumper. After forcing a stop n the ensuing possesion, Eggebrecht cashed a corner three after spectacular ball movement by the Huskies as the lead went back up to 10. St. Cloud State would lead by double-digits the rest of the way as they came away with a 64-52 win for their fourth straight victory.

Hot Shooting Sparks Huskies in 86-53 Win Over Augustana- February 14, 2026
The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle as neither team could grasp much of a lead. With 2:14 left in the first quarter, SCSU would trail 13-9. Three buckets in the paint along with a pair of free throws led to an 8-0 run as the Huskies led 17-9 after one. St. Cloud State was able to carry that momentum over to the second quarter as a three by Alana Zarneke pushed the lead to double-digits halfway through the quarter. The Huskies continued to pour it on in the second as they shot 71% with four threes in the quarter. Zarneke ripped the nylon again as she spotted up for three off an offensive rebound by Reagan Briggs with two seconds left in the quarter. Briggs found Zarneke in the slot who cashed a three as the halftime buzzer sounded to put SCSU up 44-26 headed into halftime.
The Huskies would hold a steady lead throughout the third quarter as they took a 60-42 lead into the fourth. SCSU would again pour it on the Vikings as they outscored them 26-11 in the final frame on the way to an 86-53 win. St. Cloud State produced two quarter shooting above 66% while holding the Vikings to sub 41% from the field in every quarter. The offense was hot while the defense locked down on AU by forcing 18 turnovers. This was the fifth straight win for SCSU and they have won seven of their past eight games.

Playoff Push
With one week left in the regular season, the Huskies will be looking to make a playoff push to solidify their place in the standings. The top four seeds in the standings receive a bye to the Stanford Pentagon, teams seeded 5-8 will host a first-round playoff game, and teams seeded 9-12 will travel to the corresponding host. St. Cloud State is currently tied for seventh in the NSIC Standings with a five-game winning streak and have won seven of their past eight games.

After crossing 1,000 career points last season, senior Jada Eggebrecht continues to rise the career scoring leaderboard at St. Cloud State. With 362 points this season, Eggebrecht is up to 1,473 career points which puts her at 13th all-time. The Philips, Wis. native has also cashed 176 career three-pointers which is sixth all-time.

Cold Shooting Hurts Huskies in 75-50 Loss to No. 24 Concordia-St. Paul- December 4, 2025
The first quarter saw the Huskies quickly fall into an 8-0 deficit as the 7:47 mark of the opening frame. A long two by Jada Eggebrecht put SCSU on the board and then back-to-back threes by Alana Zarneke and Rachel Kottke cut the lead down to five points as SCSU trailed 13-8. St. Cloud State ultimately entered the second quarter down 18-14. The Huskies continued to battle against the Golden Bears as a steal by Eggebrecht led to a fastbreak layup for Reagan Briggs as the deficit was now only down to two points with 6:04 left in the half. CSP started to break away as a 10-2 run put them up 10 points. Eggebrecht buried a three to stop the bleeding, but a 4-0 run to close the half put CSP up 36-25 at halftime.
St. Cloud State came out of the break with six points in the first three minutes to stay within striking distance as they trailed 43-31. From that point, SCSU would be held scoreless for the next five minutes of play as CSP ballooned their lead up to 27 points. The Huskies would trail 61-33 entering the fourth quarter and were down 23+ points the remainder of the game. St. Cloud State would shoot 31.7% from the field and 30.8% from three as they were defeated 75-50 against No. 24 Concordia-St. Paul.

Saturday's game against Winona State will be game 52 in the series between the programs with St. Cloud State leading 31-20. The teams matched up earlier in the season where the Warriors came away with the win.
Huskies Drop Tight Match to Augustana in 72-68 Defeat- December 11, 2025
The first quarter saw the two teams battle back-and-forth with neither squad holding more than a four-point lead. The teams traded threes in the final 3:49 of the quarter as triples by Jada Eggebrecht and Kristi Kottke were responded by the Warriors with their own threes. St. Cloud State narrowly held a 16-15 lead after one. The second quarter was another back-and-forth clash, but it would be the Warriors holding a 33-32 lead at the break. The Huskies shot 40.6% from the field but were hurt by 10 first half turnovers.
Late in the third quarter, Kristi Kottke splashed a three to cap off a 7-0 run as SCSU led 46-39 with 2:10 remaining in the third. Winona State called timeout as momentum looked to be on the side of the Huskies, but out of the stoppage, the Warriors closed the third on a 9-0 run to lead 48-46 headed into the fourth. With 6:47 remaining in the game, WSU took a 55-50 lead following a 7-0 run. With an and-one layup and four free throws by Eggebrecht, St. Cloud State retook the lead and then extended it as Rachel Kottke cashed a three as the Huskies led 59-55 with 3:49 left in the game. With timely makes and defensive stops, the Warriors responded with a 10-0 run as they now led 65-59 with 1:29 remaining. Winona State ultimately closed on a 17-7 run after the three by Kottke as they defeated SCSU 72-66.

Scouting Concordia-St. Paul
The Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears come into this matchup with a 19-6 record with a 15-5 mark in the NSIC. CSP has won 11 straight games and are seeded second in the conference. The Golden Bears are coming off a 2024-25 season where they tallied a 29-3 record and a 20-2 mark in conference play to finish atop the NSIC. CSP rolled through the NSIC Tournament to earn the auto-bid into the NCAA Tournament. Their season would come to a close as they fell to Southwest Minnesota State in the first round. Concordia-St. Paul came into this season projected to finish second in the NSIC.
The offseason saw CSP graduate one of their two All-Conference Honorees in Lindsey Becher. Becher was First Team All-NSIC a season ago while also being named NSIC Defensive Player of the Year. Lydia Haack, who also earned First Team All-NSIC last season, returns after averaging 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
Haack is once again leading the Golden Bears with 17.6 points and a conference-high of 6.0 assists. She is also averaging 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals. Two other Golden Bears score in double figures in Lauren Wilson (17.5) and Leah Dengerud (10.8).
Head Coach Amanda Johnson enters her 11th season with Concordia-St. Paul in 2025-26. Johnson has compiled a 185-102 record in her tenure. She was named NSIC Coach of the Year last season with CSP winning the NSIC regular season and tournament title.
