Women's basketball defeats South Dakota School of Mines, 63-52

Rapid City, S.D. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball team was victorious in their first win of the season. The Huskies defeated South Dakota School of Mines, 63-52.
The Huskies start the season off 1-0 overall.
St. Cloud State forced S.D. School of Mines into 21 turnovers, recording just 12 themselves. The Huskies also out rebounded the Hardrockers 40-32.
SCSU shot 77 percent from the free-throw line and recorded 12 steals.
Junior forward Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) finished with a team-high 14 points. LeCaptain shot 6-13 from the field and 2-3 at the free-throw line.
Junior forward Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) had 13 points for the Huskies. Petermann managed a team-high seven rebounds.
Mackenzie Kenney led the Hardrockers finishing with 10 points. Kenney shot 5-6 from the field.
This marked the second loss for the Hardrockers as they lost to South Dakota State (40-77) in an exhibition game.
St. Cloud State will return to action Saturday, Nov. 15. The Huskies will face South Dakota School of Mines again at 6:30 p.m. in Rapid City, S.D.
