Women's Basketball Tops UMD in NSIC Home Opener 81-67

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team took on the University of Minnesota, Duluth in their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match-up of the season. Â The Huskies defeated the Bulldogs 81-67.
St. Cloud State improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC.  Minnesota Duluth falls to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Â
The score was tied seven times throughout the game and had five lead changes. Â The Huskies led the Bulldogs 37-36 at the half.
Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) led the Huskies in scoring with 20 points. Â LeCaptain recorded eight rebounds and two steals.
Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) recorded a double-double this evening. Â Petermann finished 14 points and 10 rebounds. Â Petermann also had a team-high three steals.
Carley Jeffery (Cambridge, Wis.) recorded 14 points, shooting 4 of 9 from behind the arc.Â
Danielle Flood led all players scoring 22 points for the Bulldogs. Â
St. Cloud State out rebounded the Bulldogs 42-40 and shot 43.1% from the field compared to Minnesota Duluth's 40.7%. Â The Huskies forced 21 turnovers on the Bulldogs compared to their own 13.Â
St. Cloud State will return to action next weekend as they travel to Bemidji State University and Minnesota Crookston on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6. Â
