Women's Basketball Falls to #24 Wayne State, 63-82

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball team hosted #24 Wayne State this evening. The Huskies fell to the Wildcats with a final score of 63-82.
St. Cloud State drops to 10-6 overall and 6-6 in conference play. #24 Wayne State improves to 15-3 overall and 9-3 in the NSIC.
In the first half, St. Cloud State trailed the Wildcats by just five. Senior guard Carley Jeffery (Cambridge, Wis.) made five of six from behind the arc. The Huskies shot 42.4% from the field compared to the Wildcats 62.5%. In the second half, St. Cloud State shot 27% from the field while Wayne State shot 61.9%. The Wildcats committed 23 turnovers to St. Cloud State's 11. Wayne State outrebounded St. Cloud State 38-26. The score was tied twice throughout this evening's game with a total of seven lead changes.
Senior guard Carley Jeffery (Cambridge, Wis.) led the Huskies with 18 points. Jeffery made 6 of 11 from the three point range.
Junior forward Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) led the Huskies in rebounds with six. Petermann finished with ten points and three assists.
Junior forward Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) tallied ten points and five rebounds.
Jordan Spencer led all players with 24 points for the Wildcats.
St. Cloud State will return to action next weekend as they travel to Bismarck, ND and Minot, ND. The Huskies will take on the University of Mary on Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. and Minot State the following day at 4 p.m. U-Mary is currently 7-11 overall and 5-7 in the NSIC. Minot stands at 8-10 overall and 3-9 in the conference.
