Women's Basketball Defeats Southwest Minnesota State, 68-60

Marshall, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball matched up against the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State in Friday night Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action this evening. The Huskies defeated Southwest Minn. with a final score of 68-60.

The Huskies improve to 12-7 overall and 8-7 in the NSIC. Southwest Minn. State falls to 2-17 overall and 2-13 in conference play.
St. Cloud State shot 47.3% from the field compared to the Mustangs 41.8%. However, Southwest Minn. State outrebounded the Huskies 35-32. St. Cloud State forced 17 turnovers on the Mustangs compared to the Huskies 15. SCSU held the largest lead of 14 with 6:43 left in the second.
Sophomore guard Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) set a career-high with 26 points. Nooker finished with four rebounds, four assists and made 10 of 15 from the field.
Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) finished with nine points and seven rebounds for the Huskies.
Nichole Wittman (Hutchinson, Minn.), Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and Betsy MacDonald each finished with eight points. Wittman recorded a team-high nine rebounds.
St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow evening as they travel to Sioux Falls, SD to take on the University of Sioux Falls. The Cougars are currently 13-6 overall and 9-6 in conference play. The University of Sioux Falls fell to Minnesota Duluth this evening with a final score of 65-70.
