
Women's Hockey Prepped to Go To Ohio for a Pair of WCHA Conference Road Games

Scouting Ohio State:Â Ohio State comes off of a non-conference series split with St. Lawrence University. The Buckeyes lost 3-2 Friday, Oct. 26 and came back strong on Saturday to win 6-1 against the Saints. OSU goal scorer's on the weekend included Jincy Dunne, Tatum Skaggs (2), Javyn Reeves, Charly Dahlquist (2), Sara Saekkinen, and Emma Maltais. Ohio State's season point leaders are Emma Maltais (4g-11a), Charly Dahlquist (4g-6a), and Jincy Dunne (1g-7a).
OSU is 7-3-0 on the season with a 3-1-0 conference record.Â
All-time Series:Â The Huskies went 0-2-2 against the Buckeyes in 2017-18, and OSU leads 42-30-11 in the all-time record in the teams'Â histories. The Huskies and Buckeyes have yet to play each other in the 2018 calendar year. In SCSU's last appearance against Ohio State, the teams tied 0-0 in a Saturday night matchup in Columbus Dec. 2, 2017 where the Buckeyes snatched the extra point in the standings with a 1-0 shootout win. In that game, goaltender Emma Polusny set an SCSU program record for the most saves in a shutout with 41. Husky goal scorer's last year against OSU were Dana Rasmussen and Abby Thiessen. Each put pucks to the back of the net in the 2-2 OT tie on Dec. 1, 2017.
Last Week:Â The Huskies split a home series with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs last weekend; St. Cloud had a 1-2 loss Friday, Oct. 26 and a 3-2 win Saturday, Oct. 27. Goal scorers were Julia Tylke (2g) and Hannah Potrykus (2g). SCSU totaled 37 SOG in the series and the Huskies' two starting goaltenders made 87 saves combined (Alder 39, Polusny 48). St. Cloud went 0-4 on the power play and 3-6 on the penalty kill.

Silky Tylke: Senior Julia Tylke continues to rack up points on the score sheet; adding two more goals (1 GWG) this past weekend. Tylke is in a two-way tie for third most point scorer in the WCHA with 12 points (3g-9a) in 10 games played. Tylke is the current SCSU point leader with 72 points (34g-38a).
Special Teams: SCSU is ranked third among WCHA teams and ninth in the nation on the power play going 5/21 with a 23.8 PP%. Senior Hannah Potrykus is the Huskies' leading power play goal scorer with three in 10 games. St. Cloud State holds a steady 70.6% (24/34) on the penalty kill as well.Â
Shot Blockers: St. Cloud State ranks second in the nation for team saves with 358 this season (one save behind first place). Goaltenders Emma Polusny (So.) and Janine Alder (Jr.) have split time evenly playing five games each. Polusny is 3-2-0 and Alder is 1-4-0 on the season.Â
Polusny to Team USA: SCSU sophomore goaltender Emma Polusny was selected to the U.S. Women's National Team and will travel to play in the Four Nations Cup Nov. 6-10 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Polusny has an 9-12-3 record in her two seasons at SCSU with a .932 SV% and 2.36 GAA. She is one of six WCHA players that will fill the Team USA roster.
