Huskies Fall on the Road to U-Mary, Continues Road Trip on Saturday

BISMARCK, N.D. - After leading through the first three quarters of Friday night's contest, the St. Cloud State women's basketball team (3-3, 0-2 NSIC) fell to the University of Mary Marauders 59-47. St. Cloud State held the lead for over 26 minutes on Friday despite being out-scored in three of the four quarters played.
Leading the scoring efforts for the Huskies was Madelin Dammann who finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two assists. The junior guard shot 50 percent (3-6) from three-point land while also posting a 45.4 percent (5-11) mark from the field. Following Dammann was Mallie Doucette and Tori Wortz who each charted eight points. Mackenzie Uter recorded six assists for a game-high while also playing 28 minutes on Friday night. Uter and Wortz each finished with three steals to account for six of SCSU's ten team steals.
As a team, SCSU shot 27.9 percent (17-61) from the field, 26.3 percent (5-19) from beyond the arc and 61.5 percent (8-13) at the free throw line. The Huskies were out-rebounded 46-24, but only turned the ball over seven times compared to U-Mary's 19 team turnovers. The Marauders shot 36.2 percent (17-47) from the field, 30.8 percent (4-13) from beyond the arc and 87.5 percent (21-24) from the free throw line. U-Mary was led by Gabbie Bohl's double-double that consisted of 27 points and 19 blocks. Bohl also posted three blocks and turned the bal over six times. The next leading scorer for UM was Cassie Asvig who tallied ten points and two steals.
St. Cloud State will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3:30 PM CT to take on the Minot State Beavers in another NSIC showdown.
