
Women's Hockey takes on #9 Ohio State in St. Cloud

About the Series:Â Earlier this season the Huskies were swept by Ohio State University on the road in Columbus, OH with scores of 2-3 each game. Goal Scorers for SCSU in those games were Julia Tylke (2g), Jenniina Nylund, and Hallie Theodosopoulos. OSU holds an all-time leading record of 44-30-11 against St. Cloud State.
Last Games Out: St. Cloud State was swept on the road by #1 Wisconsin with final weekend scores of 0-5 on Friday, Jan. 25 and 1-3 on Saturday, Jan. 26. • SCSU totaled 27 SOG in the weekend series, goaltenders Emma Polusny (Friday - 39) and Janine Alder (Saturday – 50) combined to make 89 saves in net. St. Cloud went 0-2 on the power play and had a perfect 6-6 penalty kill.
Shot Blockers:Â St. Cloud State ranks second in the nation for team saves with 1055 this season. Goaltenders Emma Polusny (So.) and Janine Alder (Jr.) have split most of their time on the ice this season. Polusny is 5-7-1 and Alder is 3-11-1 on the season. Of note, Polusny had a career-high 48 save game on Saturday, Oct. 27 against Duluth, and Alder had another season-high game in saves against Wisconsin with 50 Jan. 26, 2019 (her previous two years of season-high save games have been vs. the Badgers).
Alder's Big Saves: Goaltender Janine Alder ranks first in the WCHA and sixth in the nation in save percentage. She has allowed 36 goals on 596 shots in 15 games played this season, averaging a .940 SV%. Alder also ranks seventh in WCHA GAA at 2.40. Alder surpassed her previous single game save high for this season on Saturday, Jan. 26 with her 50-save game. Her last game-high saves in goal this season was also against Wisconsin on Dec. 8 with 46 saves. Her career-high saves in goal for SCSU was 59 shots at Wisconsin on Jan. 14, 2017 (Alder's freshman year).
Finnish Freshman:Â Jenniina Nylund ranks seventh in the WCHA among freshman scorers. In 26 games played, she has 6g-12a- 18pts. She is tied for having the most points on the team this season with senior forward Julia Tylke.
Special Teams: The Huskies rank fourth in the WCHA conference on the power play (14.3%) going 9 for 63 – senior forward Hannah Potrykus is the Huskies' leading power play scorer with three goals this season.
