The second day of the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships went just as well as the first with many personal bests and place finishes by the St. Cloud State Track and Field Team. It was a weekend full of accomplishments and a great finish to finish the indoor track season.
Â
To start, Faith Lubner had a fantastic weekend placing in three events. She took seventh in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.48m (17' 11.75''). She also placed sixth in the women's 60m hurdles running 8.86, a new personal best. Her big finish of the weekend was placing third in the women's pentathlon scoring 3245 points.
Â
Also placing in the women's pentathlon was Leighten Fischer who took fourth place overall with a personal best score of 3242 points.
Â
Emelia Burris also had a strong weekend for the Huskies, taking fifth place in the women's 60M dash with a time of 7.76 after her fifth place finish in the women's long jump on day one of the championships.
Â
In the women's 200m final, Emma Baynes placed seventh with a time of 25.71. Her prelim time of 25.20 was a big personal best and also a school record, breaking the old mark of 25.21 held by Felicia Carlson since 2012.
Â
In women's shot put this weekend two of our athletes had very great showings. Dacoda Zimmerman recorded a personal best mark of 12.76M (41' 10.25'') to place thirteenth in the event. Dominique Buechel also obtained a new personal best of 12.64M (41' 5.75'') to place fifteenth in the event. Both athletes excelled this weekend to improve their previous bests by more than two feet.
Â
Abby Jungwirth hit a new season best in the women's high jump with a mark of 1.53M (5 feet), and she also placed 9th in the women's triple jump with a performance of 11.48m (37' 8'').
Â
Overall, the Huskies had great performances by a number of athletes over the weekend to record 29 points and finish eighth place as a team out of 15 schools. With the indoor season coming to an end, the team is excited for outdoor training and competitions to get underway.
