
Women's Hockey travels to Duluth for last road series of the regular season

About the Series: Earlier this season the Huskies split a home series against UMD with scores of 2-1 (L) and 3-2 (W). UMD holds an all-time leading record of 67-13-7 against the Huskies.
 Scouting the Bulldogs: In their last games, the Bulldogs split a series in Minneapolis against the University of Minnesota Gophers with scores of 3-2 (W) and 3-5 (L) Feb. 2 and 3. Leading point scorers for the Bulldogs are Gabbie Hughes (15-14-29pts), Naomi Rogge (10-9-19pts), Anneke Linser (6-13-19pts), and Anna Klein (10-8-18pts). UMD's primary starting goaltender this season has been junior Maddie Rooney who has played in 22 games and has posted a 2.68 GAA and a .922 SV%. Rooney's record is 9-12-1.
Last Games Out: St. Cloud State was swept at home by #9 Ohio State with final weekend scores of 0-4 on Friday, Feb.1 and 0-5 on Saturday, Feb. 2. SCSU totaled 50 SOG in the weekend series, goaltenders Emma Polusny (Friday - 49) and Janine Alder (Saturday - 43) combined to make 92 saves in net. St. Cloud went 0-6 on the power play and had a 2-5 penalty kill.
On Tuesday, Feb. 5 the Huskies matched up against WCHA opponent Mankato in a rare mid-week game in St. Cloud. The Huskies defeated the Mavericks 4-1, going 1-1 on the PP and Polusny making 42 saves.
Shot Blockers:Â St. Cloud State ranks second in the nation for team saves with 1,189 this season. Goaltenders Emma Polusny (So.) and Janine Alder (Jr.) have split most of their time on the ice this season. Polusny is 6-8-1 and Alder is 3-12-1 on the season. Of note, Polusny had a season-high 49 save game on Friday, Feb. 1 against Ohio State, and Alder had another season-high game in saves against Wisconsin with 50 Jan. 26, 2019 (her previous two years of season-high save games have been vs. the Badgers).
Alder's Big Saves:Â Goaltender Janine Alder ranks first in the WCHA and sixth in the nation in save percentage. She has allowed 40 goals on 643 shots in 16 games played this season, averaging a .938 SV%. Alder also ranks seventh in WCHA GAA at 2.50.
Po's New PR: Goaltender Emma Polusny surpassed her previous season-high save game in between the pipes for St. Cloud Friday, Feb. 1 with 49 saves against Ohio State University. She passed her last season-high mark by just one puck from her 48 stops against Minnesota-Duluth October 27.
Finnish Freshman:Â Jenniina Nylund ranks eighth in the WCHA among freshman scorers. In 28 games played, she has 6g-12a-18pts. She is tied for having the second most points on the team this season with senior forward Julia Tylke.
