St. Cloud State men's hockey alumni at NHL training camps in 2019-20

iSt. Cloud State University men's hockey is making an impact at NHL training camps this month as a total of 17 former Huskies have been invited to participate in NHL camps in September 2019.
The Huskies have enjoyed a long history of moving players to the NHL ranks since the program's first alum Frank Brimsek made it to the NHL's Boston Bruins in 1939. Since that time, a total of 36 former Huskies have skated in NHL games, including 14 players on NHL lineups in 2018-19 - Jonny Brodzinski (Los Angeles Kings), Dennis Cholowski (Detroit), Matt Cullen (Pittsburgh), Nic Dowd (Washington), Kevin Gravel (Edmonton), Matt Hendricks (Minnesota/Winnipeg), Nick Jensen (Detroit/Washington), Kalle Kossila (Anaheim), Will Borgen (Buffalo), Charlie Lindgren (Montreal), Patrick Russell (Edmonton), Ryan Poehling (Montreal), Jimmy Schuldt (Las Vegas) and Blake Lizotte (Los Angeles Kings). Of note, Cullen and Hendricks both announced their retirements from the NHL after lengthy pro careers in 2018-19.

Fans can get an insider's look into the upcoming 2019-20 season as the SCSU Hockey Puck Drop Breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. The event will be held at the Husky Den and it will start at 9 a.m. SCSU men's head coach Brett Larson along with SCSU women's hockey coach Steve Macdonald will be the keynote speakers along with comments from SCSU men's and women's hockey players.
