
Huskies Track & Field competes at Holst Invitational on Saturday

St. Cloud State Women's Track and Field continues their 2021 Outdoor season on Saturday with a trip to the Holst Invitational in St. Paul, Minnesota. Hosted by Concordia-St. Paul, the Huskies will be competing with the Golden Bears, Upper Iowa, Minnesota State-Mankato, Minnesota-Duluth, Bemidji State, Winona State, Northwestern (St. Paul), St. Catherine and Augsburg.
Field Events will begin at 11:00 a.m. CST while Track Events are slated to start at 11:15 a.m. The meet is held at Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul. Per Concordia-St. Paul, limited attendance will be allowed at the meet based on a pre-approved pass list of friends and family of athletes. There are no ticket sales to the general public or additional pass list options available outside of the pre-approved list. Spectators will be limited to the main concourse area of the stadium with no access to the track/field level. Masking and social distancing will be enforced throughout the meet.
Scheduled Competitors
Beginning with the Field Events, Dominique Buechel will represent the Huskies in the Hammer Throw (11:00 am) and the Discus (12:30 pm). Buechel won the Discus last week at the Battle for the Paddle and placed second in the Hammer Throw, PR'ing in both events. Emelia Burris, Parker Buske, Faith Lubner, Maya Taylor and Jocelyn Johnson will all compete in the Long Jump at 11:00 am. Burris and Buske placed first and second respectively in the event at the Battle for the Paddle.Â
Gracie Elsenpeter and Emma Gauert will go in the Pole Vault at 11:15 am fresh off a one-two finish last weekend. At 11:30 am, Claire Shea, Julia Rowles, Shantelle Des Marais and Johnson will represent SCSU in the High Jump. Taylor and Buske will wrap up the Field with the Triple Jump at 12:30 pm, with the latter going for her third straight win in the event to begin the Outdoor season.
On the Track side of things, the first Huskies to compete Saturday will be Lubner, Elsenpeter and Johnson in the 100m Hurdle Preliminaries at 12:45 pm. Isabella Kraft will run the 3000m Steeplechase at 1:10 pm, followed by Clara Welhouse in the 1500m Run at 1:42 pm. Kaylee Gessay is scheduled to go in the 400m Dash at 2:00 pm for the Huskies' first short distance final, continued by the 100m Hurdle Finals at 2:15 then Katie Lavato and Burris in the 100m Dash at 2:40 pm.
Cheresa Bouley and Leighten Fischer will go in the 800m Run at 3:00 pm. In the 400m Hurdles at 3:15, Makayla Rice and Karla Encarnacion will represent St. Cloud State. Cassidy Lackovic, Gessay and Lavato are SCSU's competitors in the 200m Dash at 3:35 pm, then Katherine Todd is scheduled to go in the 4:10 pm 5000m Run.
Closing the meet at 4:40 pm, the Huskies will use their team of Lackovic, Johnson, Encarnacion and Bouley in the 4x400m Relay.
