
Track & Field heads to Mankato for NSIC and Friends Outdoor Challenge

St. Cloud State Track & Field continues their Outdoor season this Saturday, May 1 at the NSIC and Friends Outdoor Challenge held in Mankato, Minnesota. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. CST with the Field Events, with Track Events starting at 1:30 p.m. CST.
The Huskies will be competing with student-athletes from Minnesota State, Concordia-St. Paul, Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota-Duluth, Augustana, Winona State and NCAA DIII program Gustavus Adolphus.
Field Events
Dominique Buechel will represent SCSU in the Discus and Hammer Throw. She presently ranks No. 10 in the nation's Discus field of competitors with a 49.50m season-best mark and is fresh off setting a new career-best in the Hammer. Claire Shea, Julia Rowles and Shantelle Des Marais will go in the High Jump while Emma Gauert and Gracie Elsenpeter are the Huskies' Pole Vaulters. Victoria Czech will be the lone SCSU athlete in the Javelin.
The Huskies' outstanding Long Jump group will feature Indoor All-American Emelia Burris, Faith Lubner, Parker Buske, Maya Taylor and Czech. Buske has won each of the three Triple Jump competitions she has appeared in this outdoor season and will be joined by Taylor in the event.
Track Events
Clara Welhouse and Isabella Kraft are the Huskies' duo in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, opening up the Track side of things at 1:39 p.m. CST. Jocelyn Johnson, Lubner, Elsenpeter and Czech are the SCSU competitors in the 100 Meter Hurdles while Katie Lavato, Alexis Fallow and Burris will go in the 100 Meter Dash. Cheresa Bouley is fresh off a career-best in the 1500 Meter Run and will be looking to defend a River City Rumble event win alongside teammate Katherine Todd. Kaylee Gessay and Cassidy Lackovic are the SCSU representatives in the 400 Meter Dash.
Lavato and Leighten Fischer will be the Huskies' choices in the 800 Meter Run, and SCSU's 400 Hurdles pairing of Makayla Rice and Karla Encarnacion will wrap up the hurdles competition. Fallow and Lavato close the individual events with the 200 Meter Dash at approximately 5:09 p.m. CST.
St. Cloud State will field two 4x400 Meter Relay teams: Rice, Fischer, Lackovic and Gessay; and Czech, Johnson, Lavato and Encarnacion.
