Huskies Track & Field competes in the Battle for the Paddle on Friday

St. Cloud State Women's Track & Field continues their 2021 Outdoor season on Friday, April 9 as they travel to Winona to compete in the Battle for the Paddle. The meet will be held at Paul Giel Field and is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. CST. The Battle for the Paddle is the first scored meet SCSU will compete in this Outdoor season.

The Huskies opened their Outdoor schedule on March 27 at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Nebraska, winning three events and landing plenty of top-ten finishers.

Scheduled Competitors

In the field events, Dominique Buechel and Dacoda Zimmerman will throw in the Discus, Hammer and Shot Put. The two both finished top-eight in the Wilcat Classic Shot Put. Emelia Burris, Parker Buske, Victoria Czech and Jocelyn Johnson are the Huskies' Long Jumpers. Burris and Buske finished two-three behind teammate Faith Lubner at the Wildcat Classic. Emma Gauert and Gracie Elsenpeter are scheduled to compete in the Pole Vault, while Wildcat Classic top-two finishers Buske and Maya Taylor will go in the Triple Jump. Claire Shea, Julia Rowles, Shantelle Des Marais and Johnson represent SCSU in the High Jump after an Outdoor-opening showing that saw all four place in the top eight. Leighten Fischer and Czech round out the field events in the Javelin throw.

Track events are scheduled to begin at 3:30 and 3:45 pm with the 100m Hurdle and Dash Preliminaries. Elsenpeter, Johnson and Czech will compete in the Hurdle while Karla Encarnacion and Alexis Fallow are the SCSU representatives in the Dash. St. Cloud State's 4x100m Relay team will consist of Makayla Rice, Elsenpeter, Burris and Buske, followed by Cheresa Bouley, Clara Welhouse and Katherine Todd in the 1500m Run. Welhouse and Todd finished second and third respectively in the Wildcat Classic 1500m Run. Kaylee Gessay and Cassidy Lackovic are penciled in for the 400m Dash. The Huskies will send Katelin Prinsen and Fischer for the 800m Run. Wildcat Classic winner Rice and top-seven finisher Encarnacion are SCSU's competitors in the 400m Hurdles with Taylor and Fallow going in the 200m Dash. Isabella Kraft is scheduled to compete in the 5000m Run to round out the individual runners. Closing out the Track events with the 4x400m Relay, the Huskies will compete with two teams: Gessay, Rice, Fischer and Bouley; and Johnson, Czech, Welhouse and Todd.
