
St. Cloud State Men's Soccer Closes Regular Season at Husky Stadium

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State men's soccer (3-8-4, 2-7-2 GLIAC) will close it's regular season hosting Upper Iowa at home Wednesday evening at Husky Stadium. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. CT. Flo Sports will provide the stream and live stats will be available on scsuhuskies.com.
Rewind
The Huskies hosted Northern Michigan and UW-Parkside last weekend.After a hard fought battle against Northern Michigan Friday evening, the Huskies fell 4-2 to the Wildcats. Miguel Konde Gwo netted both goals for the Huskies with an assist from Philip Caputo. Sunday's match against UW-Parkside was a thriller afternoon. Philip Caputo tied the game 1-1 after capitalizing on a penalty shot. Caputo received a beautiful feed Yuken Harmon to net a mark for a 2-1 Huskies lead. The Rangers fought back to tie the match at 2-2. Caputo had the opportunity to net a game winning goal but fell just short. Gage Steiner made seven saves on the day including key saves late in the game to keep the score 2-2 against the 2nd ranked UW-Parkside Rangers.Â

Philip Caputo leads the Huskies in goals this season with five. His five goals puts him at fifth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for goals. Gage Steiner has been a force to be reckoned with in the box. The goalkeeper has held strong in the GLIAC rankings all season. Steiner currently ranks second in the GLIAC for saves with 56 on the season.Â
Scouting Upper Iowa
Upper Iowa currently records a 1-13-1 overall, 0-10-1 record in conference play. The Peacocks have fallen in their last three games. They have lost to Saginaw Valley State 2-1 (Oct. 16), 3-0 against UW-Parkside (Oct. 21), and 4-2 against Northern Michigan (Oct. 23). The last meeting between between the Huskies and the Peacocks, St. Cloud came out victorious with a 2-0 shut out against Upper Iowa. The shut out marked SCSU's first ever shut out to a conference opponent in program history.Â
