St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Opens 2022-23 Season with Valley City and Presentation College

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State women's basketball is back in action this weekend opening their season with two games in Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies take on Valley City State Saturday, November 12 and Presentation College Sunday, November 13. Saturday's game will tip off at 4:00 p.m. CT and Sunday's game at 2:00 p.m. CT. Stream coverage will be provided by the NSIC Network and live stats will be available on SCSUHuskies.com.

Weekend Promos
Opening night will feature a schedule poster giveaway. The first 100 fans at the game will receive a free women's basketball schedule poster. Sunday's promo will include a celebration of women in Huskies Athletics and double reward points on the SCSU App.Â

The Matchups
Saturday's season opener will be the first meeting between the Huskies and the Vikings since November 2019. St. Cloud and Valley City have met for a total of six times in program history where SCSU holds the advantage with a 6-0 series record. Valley City opened their season on Oct. 29 and have a few games under their belt already. The Vikings stand at a 4-1 record currently. Valley City has taken down Providence College 89-32 & 91-34 (Oct. 29 & 30), Minnesota Morris 61-58 (Nov. 2) and Mount Marty University 67-63 (Nov. 6). The Viking's lone loss comes from No. 12 Dakota Wesleyan with a score of 65-52 (Nov. 5).

Sunday's matchup will be the first meeting between St. Cloud State and Presentation College. The Saints opened their season on October 27 and stand with a 0-5 record. The Saints fell to Dordt University 107-48 (Oct. 27), University of Jamestown 75-34 (Nov. 1), Mount Marty University 67-45 (Nov. 5), No. 12 Dakota Wesleyan 91-31 (Nov. 6) and Briar Cliff University 102-43 (Nov. 6).

The Huskies were selected to finish seventh overall in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. In the north division, St. Cloud was selected to finish fourth.

St. Cloud State graduated five seniors from their roster a season ago with eight players returning to the Huskies lineup in 2022-23. Key returning players are Katrina Theis and Kelsey Peschel who opted to return for a fifth year after helping lead the Huskies to their third consecutive NCAA tournament.
