St. Cloud State Women's Basketball Opens NSIC Play with RV UMD, Then Hits Road for Two Non-Conference Match-Ups

Huskies face RV Bulldogs in NSIC opener, then hit the road to Michigan
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's basketball team will be busy this week. The Huskies will open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play tomorrow against the (RV) Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs at Halenbeck Hall. Then St. Cloud will hit the road to Michigan to take on Michigan Tech Friday, Nov. 25 and Northern Michigan Saturday, Nov. 26.

Tomorrow's NSIC opener will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. CT in Halenbeck Hall. The NSIC Network will provide the game stream along with play-by-play by Steve Linzmeier. Friday and Saturday's games will both tip-off at 2:00 p.m. CT / 3:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed on FloSports. Live stats will be provided by the host institution.

A Look Back
The Huskies opened the 2022-23 season 2-0. St. Cloud knocked down Valley City State 76-51 (Nov. 12) and Presentation College 76-46 (Nov. 13). Freshman Jada Eggebrect made her debut in a Huskies uniform leading the scoring in both games. Eggebrect put up 36 points in the opening weekend. She currently ranks seventh in the NSIC for scoring.

(RV) Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs
Minnesota Duluth comes in receiving votes in the 2022-23 NCAA Division II Preseason Coaches poll. The Bulldogs opened up their season 2-1. UMD won their season opener against Missouri Western State 79-65 (Nov. 5), then fell to Missouri Southern 54-51 (Nov. 6) and knocked down UW-Parkside 68-63 (Nov. 16).

Last season the Huskies went 2-1 against the Bulldogs, knocking them down in the regular season. St. Cloud last faced Minnesota Duluth in the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament where SCSU fell 62-39 in the championship game.

Michigan Tech Huskies
Michigan Tech opened the 2022-23 season 4-1. The Huskies have taken down William Jewell 63-32 (Nov. 11), Lewis University 95-83 (Nov. 12) and Concordia St. Paul 64-54 (Nov. 15). They then fell to Minnesota Southwest State 81-69 (Nov. 17) and bounced back against Minnesota Crookston 82-62 (Nov. 19).

St. Cloud State and Michigan Tech have met for a total of five times since 1999. Michigan Tech holds the overall advantage by only one game. The last match-up between the two schools was November 2019 where the Huskies came out on top 65-61.
Northern Michigan Wildcats
The Northern Michigan Wildcats are 3-1 on their season so far. The Wildcats opened with a three game win streak against Lewis University 77-59 (Nov. 11), William Jewell 70-52 (Nov. 12) and Minnesota Crookston 74-64 (Nov. 17). Northern Michigan fell 86-74 to Southwest Minnesota State (Nov. 19).

Since 2005 St. Cloud State and Northern Michigan have met for a total of four times. SCSU holds the advantage 3-1 over the Wildcats. The last match-up between St. Cloud and Northern Michigan was last November where the Huskies dominated 53-35.
