St. Cloud State Tennis Selected 11th in NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Junior captain Shanna Kinny named Player to Watch
BURNSVILLE, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis team was selected to finish 11th in the 2022 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league on Thursday. In addition, junior captain Shanna Kinny (Litchfield, Minn.) was named the Player to Watch for the Huskies.
St. Cloud State is coming off a 5-9 overall record in 2021, including a 3-8 mark in NSIC play where they finished ninth in the team standings. The Huskies wins came against Minnesota State, Minnesota Crookston and Upper Iowa. Of the eight losses in NSIC play, three were 3-4 scores. Head Coach Berit Merrill will begin her fourth season as head coach of the St. Cloud State University women's tennis team in 2022.
"What excites me about this year's team, our depth of talent," said Merrill. "Overall, this team has great tennis aptitude, and are hungry to compete, and as a coach, that is really exciting!"

The Huskies will open the season on the road with a road trip to Grand Forks, N.D. this weekend. Tomorrow, the Huskies open the 2022 campaign against Minnesota Crookston, followed by a Saturday match against Bemidij State.

- Was 4-1 at No. 4 singles
