Arason, Buske and Taylor earn top-8 finishes in field events
ABERDEEN, S.D. – The St. Cloud State University track and field team finished in 12th place as a team at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship, which concluded in Aberdeen, South Dakota Saturday afternoon. Field athletes Hannah Arason (Grand Forks, N.D. / Minnesota), Parker Buske (Madison, Wis. / East) and Maya Taylor (Oswego, Ill. / East) all scored for the Huskies Saturday afternoon, bringing the team score to 26 points after the final day of competition.
HIGHLIGHTS
Arason concluded her trip to Aberdeen, South Dakota with another All-Conference finish, as she earned a top-3 finish in javelin to earn eight points towards St. Cloud State's overall team score. The fifth year senior threw the spear 42.38 meters, earning All-NSIC honors for the second time at the conference championship with a third place finish in the event. Teammate Kasey Parish (South Victoria, Australia / North Iowa) just missed a top-8 finish, coming ninth with a throw of 38.27 meters.
Buske and Taylor put together impressive performances in triple jump, as they finished in sixth and seventh place to earn five points towards the Huskies overall team score. Buske took sixth place in her premium event, jumping 11.79 meters to earn the top-8 finish. Taylor was not far behind, as she came in seventh thanks to her jump of 11.64 meters.
Several St. Cloud State student-athletes competed on the second full day of competition, with the Huskies 4x400 relay team earning a top-10 finish in the final event of the meet. The team of Cassidy Lackovic (Lake in the Hills, Ill. / Huntley), Brooklyn Brouse (Thief River Falls, Minn. / Lincoln), Makaylin Christianson (Prairie Farms, Wis. / Prairie Farms) and Marianna Guerra-Reese (White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake) finished in ninth with a time of 4:04.92. In the distance races, Clara Welhouse (Green Bay, Wis. / Southwest) and Cheresa Bouley (Zimmerman, Minn. / Zimmerman) competed in the 800m and 5000m runs, finishing with times of 2:24.22 and 18:50.64 respectively.

After Saturday, St. Cloud State concludes the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championship with 26 points to finish in 12th as a team. As a team, the Huskies season is done, however, a handful of individuals have a chance to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place May 26-28 in Allendale, Michigan.
