LAST TIME OUT
St. Cloud State was on the road last weekend and faced off against UW-Parkside. The Huskies would trail by as many as 12 points in the first half, but started to catch fire from beyond the arc. SCSU would cut the deficit to five points heading into the break. Senior Forward Dru Henning (Mukwanago, Wis.) would knock in two three-pointers on her way to an eight-point first half. freshman guard Alana Zarneke (Appleton, Wis.) cashed in two three-pointers of her own to give her six points at halftime.
The Huskies found themselves trailing three points heading into the fourth quarter despite draining four of their 12 made threes on the afternoon. Eight fourth quarter points by senior guard Makenna Vanzant (Farmington, Ark.) sparked a 27-point fourth quarter bombardment by the Huskies where they shot a blistering 70% from the field and calmly made 10-free throws on their way to a 71-64 victory. Vanzant would finish the game as one of four Huskies in double figures along with Henning, Zarneke, and sophomore guard Jada Eggebrecht (Phillips, Wis.).
SERIES HISTORY
St. Cloud State holds an 8-2 record all-time against Northern Michigan including a 55-51 victory last year. Senior guard Tori Peschel (Sauk Centre, Minn.) stuffed the stat sheet posting 13 points on 5-7 shooting, five rebounds, three assists, one block, one steal and one made three-pointer. Dru Henning also chipped in 13 points along with four rebounds in the victory. Henning would effortlessly knock in two clutch free throws to give the Huskies a one-point lead with 45 seconds left in the game and then go on to hit a dagger three-pointer with 13 seconds left to give the Huskies a four-point victory.
Against Michigan Tech, St. Cloud State holds a 4-7 all-time record in their 11 meetings. In last year's matchup, the Huskies fell 82-49. The Huskies turned the ball over 14 times which led to 27-points for Michigan Tech. Eggebrecht and Peschel each put up 10 points in the loss.
SCOUTING NORTHERN MICHIGAN
The Wildcats come into Saturday's tilt riding high on a four-game winning streak and have an average margin of victory of 14 points including a 19 point victory over Southwest Minnesota State a week ago.
