Litt Leads St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Past Northern Michigan

Jasmine Litt scores career-high 20 points, Huksies stay undefeated with 66-56 win over NMU
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (3-0, 0-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) picked up its second straight nonconference win over a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent on Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud. The Huskies took down Northern Michigan (4-2, 0-0 GLIAC), 66-56 in their return to Halenbeck Hall.
St. Cloud State raced out to an 18-11 lead after the first quarter despite turning the ball over five times. SCSU held a 33-25 advantage at the half but turned the ball over five more times in the second quarter. The Huskies efficient shooting helped cover up the turnover issues as SCSU shot 6-of-10 (60.0%) from the field in each of the first two quarters and 4-of-7 (57.1%) from behind the three-point line in the first half. The Wildcats struggled to get their offense going in the first half, finishing 9-of-30 (30.0%) from the field and 3-10 (30.0%) from behind the three-point line.
The Huskies continued their hot shooting in the third quarter making seven of their 12 shots (58.3%) from the field and three of five (60.0%) from three. SCSU outscored NMU 19-12 in the third quarter and held NMU to 4-of-20 from the field (20.0%) and 0-of-9 from three. St. Cloud State did enough in the fourth quarter to hold off a Wildcats comeback attempt and win its third straight game to open the season.
The Huskies were led by senior forward Jasmine Litt (Pulaski, Wis.) who made her first career-start and scored a career-high 20 points which included a nine-point first quarter when she made all three of her three-point attempts. Sophomore guard Jada Eggebrecht (Phillips, Wis.) scored a season-high 16 points and sophomore forward Ashley Sawicki (Waunakee, Wis.) scored 11 points to go along with her six rebounds and five blocked shots.

- Litt scored a game-high 20 points. She was 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from three.
- Eggebrecht scored 16 points on 6-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. She also chipped in five rebounds and three assists.
- Sawicki scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. She added six rebounds and five blocked shots.
- With the win, the Huskies are now 9-2 all-time against Northern Michigan.
- SCSU led the game in field goal percentage (53.3%-27.9%), three-point percentage (41.2%-22.2%), field goals (24-19), three pointers (7-6), assists (18-8), blocks (8-1) and points in the paint (26-24).
- NMU led in free throw percentage (75.0%-52.4%), free throws (12-11), total rebounds (16-24—40, 2-35—37), steals (7-4), points off turnovers (13-12), second chance points (9-2), fast break points (17-5) and bench points (13-9).
- Litt made her first start as a Husky. She set career-highs in points (20), minutes (29), field goals (seven), field goal attempts (10), three-pointers (four) and three-pointers attempted (five). She also set season-bests in free throws made (2) and free throws attempted (four). It was her third career game scoring 10+ points.
- Eggebrecht has scored double-digit points in six consecutive times dating back to last year, her freshman campaign. She had scored 10+ points in 25 of her 30 games as a Husky. She recorded season-bests in points (16), minutes (34), field goals made (six), field goals attempted (10), free throws made (three), free throws attempted (four), rebounds (five) and assists (three).
- Sawicki recorded season highs in points (11), minutes (26) field goals made (five), blocks (five) and assists (2). It was the seventh time in her career and first time this season scoring double-digit points
- Senior guard Morgan Draheim (Hortonville, Wis.) played a career-high 34 minutes. She also set season-best marks in three pointers (two), three-point attempts (six) and assists (four).
- Senior guard Makenna Vanzant (Farmington, Ark.) grabbed a season-high six rebounds and tied a season-high, shooting six free throws. She has recorded a steal in all three games this season.
- Senior forward Dru Henning (Mukwonago, Wis.) recorded season-highs in rebounds (five) and assists (three).
- Freshman forward Paige Lambe (Verona, Wis.) grabbed a career-high four rebounds.
- Freshman guard Alana Zarneke (Appleton, Wis.) attempted her first two free-throws as a Husky, going 1-of-2.
