The Huskies came up with a defensive stop on Northern's ensuing possession to force the game into overtime.
The Wolves took an early four-point lead in overtime, but senior forward Jasmine Litt (Pulaski Wis.) scored four straight points for St. Cloud State, tying the game at 59 with 53 seconds left. Northern then closed the game on an 8-0 run with six makes from the free throw line to earn a 67-59 victory. Litt and Eggebrecht each scored 16 points to lead the Huskies. A three-pointer by Moorhead pushed the lead to 19 points with 5:10 left in the 2nd quarter. The Huskies started to find their footing as they ended the half on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 12 points going into halftime.
The third quarter was again kind to the Huskies as they outscored the Dragons 21-10 and briefly held a one-point lead. The Huskies defense picked up as they forced five turnovers and held the Dragons to 1-of-9 shooting from the floor. St. Cloud State still trailed 37-36 entering the fourth quarter. Opening the quarter on an 8-2 run, SCSU would take a 44-39 lead with 7:34 left in the game. St. Cloud State ran out of gas and the Dragons ended the game on an 18-4 run to pull away with a 57-48 victory. The Huskies continued their stout defense from the third quarter as they held Moorhead to 27% from the field, but the Dragons were able to put the game at the free throw line as they capitalized on 12 of their 18 attempts.
