
St. Cloud State Tennis Faces off Against Minnesota Duluth

Huskies travel to Duluth for NSIC matchup against Bulldogs
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Tennis will travel to Duluth this Saturday to face off against Minnesota Duluth (3-0, 0-0 NSIC). The Huskies and Bulldogs will play their first conference match of the season on Saturday, with a start time of 5:15 p.m. CT scheduled form the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
Sophomore Maria Paz Aoki (Marcos Paz, Argentina) helped lead the Huskies to a season-opening win over Minnesota Crookston last Friday. She earned victories at the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles spot, defeating UMC's Blaike Zander 6-2, 6-2, and then Kavya Singth and Blaike Zander 7-5 while partnered with sophomore Claudia Muñoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain).
Coming off the 6-1 victory over Minnesota Crookston, the Huskies will look to stay undefeated this season as they battle against a tough opponent. Minnesota Duluth has started off the year strong posting a 3-0 record with convincing wins over Bethel, Bemidji State, and St. Scholastica. Shay Callaway, wasawarded the NSIC Player of the Week as she recorded a 3-0 record at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for Duluth this past week.
St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth will be competing for the 17th time overall. The Huskies are 11-5 all-time against the Bulldogs with their most recent win coming last year in a hard fought 5-2 victory at the Sta-Fit Tennis Center. The Huskies will look to earn back-to-back victories over the Bulldogs for the first time since 2017.
