Huskies take doubles points, gets singles victory from Kashima
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Tennis (1-1, 0-1 NSIC) was defeated by Minnesota Duluth (4-0, 1-0 NSIC), 5-2, on Saturday night. The Huskies earned the doubles point after winning two of the three matches, but then were only able to win one singles match.
DOUBLES
St. Cloud State earned the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. The sophomore duo of Maria Paz Aoki (Marcos Paz, Argentina) and Claudia Muñoz Perez (Tarragona, Spain) won at the No. 1 spot 6-3 over Shay Callaway and Megan Mueller. The duo earned their second victory of the season with the win. Senior Arisa Kashima (Saitama, Japan) and sophomore Johana Brower (Sioux Falls, S.D.) lost in a close match 7-5 against Abby Johnson and Mallory Lithun in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 spot, senior Olivia Fredrickson (Fridley, Minn.) and sophomore Maria Molitor (Delano, Minn.) grabbed the clincher for the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Olivia Honsey and Amanda Hanowski.
SINGLES
In singles play, the Huskies were defeated in five of the six matches. Kashima was the only Husky to earn a singles victory, as she won 6-3, 6-1 over Abby Johnson in the No. 3 spot. Brower battled in the No. 4 spot going into the third set but was unable to come away with the victory, losing 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

St. Cloud State will travel to Virginia, Minn. in two weeks with a matchup against Minnesota State Moorhead on Feb. 25 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
