
St. Cloud State Tennis to Compete Against MSU Moorhead and UMary

Huskies face MSU Moorhead on Saturday, UMary on Sunday
St. Cloud, Minn.- St. Cloud State Tennis will return to action this weekend as they travel to Virginia, Minn. for a pair of NSIC matches against MSU Moorhead and UMary. The Huskies will first face off against MSU Moorhead this Saturday at 3:00 P.M. CT, followed by UMary on Sunday at 9:00 A.M. CT.

St. Cloud State (1-1, 0-1 NSIC) dropped their previous match against Minnesota Duluth on February 11th with a 2-5 loss. In the match, the Huskies earned the doubles point winning two out of the three matches and senior Arisa Kashima (Saitama, Japan) grabbed the lone singles point for the Huskies.

MSU Moorhead (1-1, 0-1 NSIC) opened up their season last weekend against Concordia College and UMary. The Dragons split the matches winning 7-0 against Concordia College but fell 2-5 against UMary. St. Cloud State beat MSU Moorhead in a nail biter last year as they won 4-3 on the road. The Huskies hold an all-time record of 10-7 against the Dragons.

UMary (1-0, 1-0 NSIC) also started off their season last week with a 5-2 win over MSU Moorhead. The Marauders head into this matchup against the Huskies playing their third match in three days. UMary will play Gustavus Adolphus on Friday, Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, and then the Huskies on Sunday. Doaa Farouk Mohamed was awarded NSIC Player of the Week for the Marauders. Farouk Mohamed went 2-0 in her matches last weekend against MSU Moorhead including a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles and a 7-5, 7-6 victory at the No. 1 singles. St. Cloud State lost to UMary 2-5 last season and hold an all-time record of 8-7 against the Marauders, but the Huskies have lost the previous five matchups against UMary.

St. Cloud State is currently sitting in 11th place in the NSIC and will look to improve on their seeding with a pair of pivotal conference matches this weekend in Virginia, Minn.
