Brena and Brouse win events, eight Huskies PR at Maverick Invitational

Paola Brena wins High Jump, Brooklyn Brouse sets meet record in the 600 as St. Cloud State enjoys strong final meet of Indoor regular season
MANKATO, Minn. – St. Cloud State Track & Field saw two athletes be named event champions as eight Huskies recorded personal bests at the Maverick Invitational at the Myers Field House in Mankato on Friday evening. Paola Brena won the High Jump while Brooklyn Brouse set both a meet and personal record with a 1:35.69 run to win the 600 Meter.
Shelby Romig opened the day on the track by earning the No. 3 seed in the 60 Meter Hurdles finals, running the prelims in 9.23s while Ainhoa Toquero added a PR of 9.87s to take 11th. Katie Lavato added the fourth seed in the 60 Meter Finals with a 7.93s prelims run. Romig would go on to take eighth in the hurdles while Lavato placed second in the 60 with a 7.95s finish. Erica Conrad placed seventh in the Mile at 5:44.15 while Jaileen Medina ran a PR of 2:37.43 in the 800 to take seventh.
Brooklyn Brouse cruised to a meet record and a PR of 1:35.69 in the 600 to win the event, followed closely by a 1:37.93 PR from Mariana Guerra-Reese. Clara Welhouse ran a 3:06.44 1000 Meter for third, then Lavato took sixth in the 200 with a personal-best 26.50s dash.
Dacoda Zimmerman gave SCSU a pair of top-10 finishes in the throws, taking eighth in the Weight Throw while going 10th in the Shot Put. Three PR's were established in the Long Jump by Romig (5.24m), Destiny Baughman (5.20m) and Ava Wilmanns (4.62m) – Parker Buske took second at 5.67m, Romig took fifth, Baughman placed seventh and Julia Rowles bounded 5.07m for 10th.
Paola Brena won the High Jump with a 1.64m clear while Rowles took third at 1.59m and Toquero placed eighth by clearing 1.54m. Buske added a 11.70m mark in the Triple Jump to take third while Baughman leapt 10.96m for fourth.
