SERIES HISTORY

The Huskies played Upper Iowa twice in each of the past two seasons when both teams were members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). Upper Iowa moved to the Great Lakes Valley Conference ahead of the 2023 season so this is the first time the two teams will meet in a nonconference match. SCSU is 1-3 all-time against Upper Iowa. Sunday's match against Truman State marks the second consecutive season that SCSU will play the Bulldogs and the first time that they host them. St. Cloud State is 0-0-1 all-time against Truman State. Last season, the Huskies traveled to Kirksville, Mo. for the inaugural matchup between the programs which ended in a 1-1 draw.
SCOUTING UPPER IOWA
The Peacocks are led by head coach Jason Carlson, who is in the second year of his second stint with the team after previously being the head coach from 2013-2016. UIU posted a 2-13-2 record in 2022 and enters Thursday's matchup with a record of 1-0-0. The Peacocks won their season-opener 5-1 against Saint Ambrose (Iowa) on Sep. 1 in Fayette. Upper Iowa had four different players score and three different players assist in its 2023 debut. Sophomore defender, Dexter Garrett led the Peacocks scoring two goals and playing every minute of the match. His production was supplemented by Frider Blunck, Thomas Walle and Kehinde Afolabi who all scored one goal apiece. David Mateo Porras Rodriguez and Daigo Adachi assisted on two goals each and Alejandro Suarez assisted on one. Senior goalkeeper, Archie Watts, played all 90 minutes between the posts and faced six shots total with five making it on frame. He allowed one goal and made four saves.
