St. Cloud State Women’s Basketball Finishes Weekend Sweep

Eggebrecht pours in season-high 21 points, Huskies earn third straight victory
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Basketball (10-6 overall, 7-5 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) came out of the halftime break firing on all cylinders, pulling away from Augustana to earn a 76-58 victory on Saturday at Halenbeck Hall.
Augustana (5-12, 4-9 NSIC) shot a nearly perfect 8-of-10 from the field in the first quarter to take a 19-16 lead. The Huskies defense stepped up in the second quarter only allowing six Augie points, forcing the Vikings to shoot 2-of-7 from the field. SCSU took a 29-25 lead into halftime despite being outshot 58.8% to 35.3%. The Huskies forced 14 first half Augustana turnovers and grabbed eight offensive rebounds turning them into six and seven points respectively.
The Huskies broke the game open in the third quarter outscoring Augustana 28-14 to take a 57-39 lead into the final 10 minutes. The Huskies grabbed six more offensive rebounds, turning them into seven points and forced three more turnovers which led to seven points. Each team scored 19 fourth quarter points bringing the game to its final score of 76-58.

The Huskies return to the road for the first time in 20 days next weekend. They will travel to play Minnesota State in on Friday, January 26 and Winona State on Saturday, January 27. Friday's game will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Taylor Center in Mankato and Saturday's game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. at McCown Gymnasium. - Sophomore guard Jada Eggebrecht (Phillips, Wis.) scored a game-high 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field including 5-of-7 from three. She also went a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
- Sophomore forward Ashley Sawicki (Waunakee, Wis.) scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.
- Senior guard Morgan Draheim (Hortonville, Wis.) scored 11 points and tallied three steals.
- After the win, SCSU is now 33-37 all-time against Wayne State.
- SCSU led the game in three-point percentage (50.0%-23.1%), free throw percentage (83.3%-64.7%), field goals (28-22), three pointers (10-3), total rebounds (16-16—32 – 6-20—26), assists (16-12), steals (9-3), points off turnovers (13-11), points in the paint (28-24), second-chance points (14-6) and bench points (18-15).
- Augie led in field goal percentage (52.4%-44.4%), free throws (11-10), blocks (3-1) and fast break points (6-4).
- SCSU tied its season high grabbing 16 offensive rebounds.
- Eggebrecht tied career highs in three pointers (five) and blocks (one) and set season highs in points (21) and three-point attempts (seven). She has recorded 10+ points in 35 of her 43 games as a Husky including 13 of 16 games this year. Seventh career game with 20+ points (second this season). Third career game with five three pointers and seventh game this season with 2+ made threes.
- Sawicki's 15 points are tied for the second most of her career. She has scored double digit points in 11 games this season including the last eight in a row. She has grabbed 4+ rebounds in 15-of-16 games this season.
- Draheim has scored in double figures in six games this year. She has 2+ assists in 13-of-16 games. Tenth multi-steal game of the season.
- Senior forward Dru Henning (Mukwonago, Wis.) scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds. She was a perfect 2-of-2 from three. Second consecutive game scoring 9+ points and sixth of the season. Sixth game with 4+ rebounds. Ninth game with 2+ rebounds and 2+ assists. Fourth game with 2+ three pointers.
- Freshman guard Alana Zarneke (Appleton, Wis.) scored seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field. She has scored 6+ points six times.
- Freshman forward Paige Lambe (Verona, Wis.) scored six points on 3-of-6 shooting and grabbed three rebounds (all offensive). She played a career-high 15 minutes. She has scored 6+ points in four games and grabbed 3+ rebounds in five games.
- Senior guard Tori Peschel (Sauk Centre, Minn.) stuffed the stat sheet, grabbing six rebounds, dishing out three assists and tallying two steals. Her six rebounds tied her season high. She has grabbed six rebounds in four games this season and dished out 3+ assists in seven games. She has recorded multiple steals in six games.
